This is not a problem of any hardware, as i got this happens in Windows Vista if you have less amount of Graphic Memory shared by Windows Aero, this thing happens with one of my PC which have 128 MB of on board graphics but as i turned off the Windows Aero the problem has gone and this is now working as simple, but if you leave the Aero feature enabled then it will not cause to any of your hardware or software but it will just flicker a little.

Could be the monitor, I would take off the hibernation mode anyway, really no need for it. If this computer is an OEM and not built????You might have a problem trying to install Windows XP as mentioned by another. IF it is a Dell, Gateway, Aspire, Acer, Emachine, or really anything else, you might have trouble installing drivers that are only supported with Vista and not XP.

Is you monitor A LCD or a CRT???

if CRT you could just try the deguass feature, (Usually located on the monitor)

If LCD, Just try adjusting the Visual setting, a Higher or lower resolution or lower colors could help.

Plus What is your refresh rate??

Right on the Desktop>>Propterites>>Settings Tab>>Advanced>>Monitor>>

For an LCD you will usually want the refresh rate around 60-70 Hertz

Hope any of this helps, otherwise you might want to check the connections, and make sure they are tight, if you still have an issue, then you just might need another monitor..

Good LUck

It's most likely a monitor problem. I'm guessing it's an old, big CRT monitor. If it is, then I suggest getting a new flat panel as they have less problems.
