Don't get depression confused with "down in the dumps". Depression is a serious medical condition that doesn't leave on it's own. One can still feel joy while "down in the dumps" Because joy is a state of mind that doesn't rely on outside events.
Being happy does rely on outside events and can change in an instant. Which down in the dumps deals with. But you still will find joy.
Being depressed is not a natural condition. It is not temporary, meaning it is on going with out treatment.
We all feel down sometimes, but not everyone gets depressed.

Absolutely dear. Life canot always be a bed or roses. If everything goes so very well as u expected then u r never called a human. Life has its own ways of dealing things. Not all the time u can succeed in what ever u do, u cannot be a success machine. When somethings not going ur way definetly u feel life sucks and have a disgusted feeling. Its not at all abnormal to have this sort of a feeling. These kind of experiences keeps u human and prevents from being carried away. Dont be too serious in life it can get worse. Try to be happy wih all ur efforts. Life is simple for our complicated brains. Living life for the momnet is its secret!!!!

Being depressed sometimes I think is OK,I think when life hands us problems it gives us a chance to reflect on what is going on with us,gives us a chance to take a step out of the problem, and a step into a solution,in other words look from the outside, in,,,just don't get caught up in yourself to deep, and if you think you are in a little deep, talk to someone...be good to yourself!!! If you need to talk I'm sure you can find someone on here...

Without a doubt, but from personally dealing with anxiety, which isnt qutie depression but similar, I know some people just cant help themselves. Theres being sad, and then theres being depressed for no reason and not getting better.

I agree with you. I think the important thing is to know why you are feeling the way you are. Problems arise when you have the blues for no particular reason.
My parents taught me that life isn't fair and it sure isn't easy. Knowing that going in helped a lot.

It happens. Friendship and love do a lot more for the spirit than any amount of medication.
