They no longer give any medication to dry you up, but a tight fitting sports bra can help. When you get get engorged, it is very painful, even for someone to hug you, but it goes away in a couple days. One answer said to take hot showers, but though that relieves the pain, it doesn't help dry you out because it relieves pain by releasing some of the milk. You will leak, so pick up a small box of nursing pads, to use all the time. especially at night. usually they need changed every few hours.

Your milk comes in based on supply and demand, so if you don't feed or release any milk, it will dry up on its own, but if you pump to release the pressure or stand in the shower too much to relieve pain, it will take a couple extra days.

Ignore the ppl who are pushing breastfeeding. You know what works for you.

If you dont breastfeed, your milk will dry up naturally. it should only take a few day, maybe a week. once u have a baby, u will always be able to produce milk, its always there. but after u dry it up it takes a lot of work to build it up again, so be sure this is what u want to do.
While your waiting for your milk to dry up, u will be in a little bit of pain, as ur breasts will be engorged. Try buying a head of lettuce and wear a leaf in each cup of ur bra. this will bring down the swelling and make u a lot more comfortable. u will leak so make sure u wear something to protect ur clothes too.
good luck!

No, you can't do it that way. You need to substitute for any liquids as well, subtracting the appropriate amount. 3 tablespoons of dry milk needs about 1 cup of water added to it to make regular milk, so about a cup of water needs to be subtracted from your recipe along with the dry milk if you are going to substitute liquid milk it it's place. If your recipe doesn't have a cup of water or a little less as one of it's ingredients, then you can't substitute the liquid milk for the dry milk. Even if the recipe does call for enough water so that you can make a substitution, the manner in which the ingredients are added in a recipe matter. So if the water and the dry milk weren't supposed to be added at the same time, then the final product might not turn out correctly, either not at all or not as well. Since I don't know the recipe, I can't help you out with that.

I don't know if they can give you anything...you should ask your ob/gyn, however, if you do not breastfeed your milk will dry up on its own. The body only produces milk if it is being used so if you do not breastfeed it will not produce it. You may have to pump a little out at first to relieve the swelling, however just enough to relieve your discomfort and within a few days likely you will not be producing anymore.

They don't give the shot to do that anymore. It had too many bad side effects.

I'd encourage you to at least give it a try for the first few days. You will go through engorgement no matter what, so why not let the baby benefit from the colostrum for the first few days since it's like a first immunization?

You can talk to your doctor about maybe taking Sudafed to see if it helps dry you up. You can also wear cabbage leaves in your bra (sounds weird but it works) and drinking sage tea or peppermint tea might help some.

Actually the dr's dont give anything anymore to dry you up. However, you can bind your breasts as tight as tolerable, so they aren't sagging, or drooping at all. This helps due to the fact that you don't have the downward natural flow for the milk to run. Ace bandages work wonders, or a really snug sports bra, that will hold your breasts and nipples up.

The doctors here where I live do not give you anything anymore, you just have to suffer for a few days and then they will eventually dry up. It was only bad for about three days or so for me.

You have to believe me when I tell you this. Cabbage Leaves will dry it up in a day or two. Yes just go to the grocery store and buy a head of cabbage. You can put a couple of leaves on your breasts while wearing a supportive sports bra at night when you sleep. They do have a terrible smell but I heard that it works wonders. I'm not sure if the color matters or not but women normally use red cabbage leaves.

I didnt take any meds to dry up my milk supply. I was told that when your breasts eventually swell up (and they will) to wear a tight fitting sports bra when you sleep and pretty much when you do anything but shower. My supply dried up after 2 or 3 days.

I was not given any thing to dry up my milk. If you are not going to breast feed it will dry up on its on. It will leak some so after you have your baby you need to put some tissues or some thing in your bra. It will also be very painful for any thing to touch your breasts. I think it takes about a week for it to completely dry up. Take hot showers as hot as your body will allow this will help the soreness, cold showers will only make it worse
