Can anyone please help me... how do you change front rotors on a 2002 chevy trailblazer?

Lisa, please listen, we've done hundreds of these. Remove the front wheels and place the truck on jack-stands. There's absolutely no need to remove the CV joint compression nut on the center of the wheel. It's got nothing to do with removing the rotors. The center bolt keeps the CV joint tight against the inner side of the press in wheel bearing

You'll need a set of 1/2 drive metric sockets and a ratchet handle.

#1. Remove the slider pins from the brake caliper brackets. there are two of these. Squeeze the piston back a tad inside of the brake caliper with a large C-clamp. Do this by placing the large C-clamp behind the caliper and place the screw end directly on the outer exposed brake pad. If you don't have a C-clamp. Sears has large Jorgenson slider bar C-clamps.

#2. The caliper pulls straight off. Lay the caliper on an empty five gallon plastic pail or hang it up with a piece of wire so not to leave it suspended with the brake hose.

#3. The caliper bracket must be removed next. I believe these two bolts are 18 mm. and are a bear to remove without a 16" breaker bar or a 16" half inch wartchet handle. I'm going to tell you right now these are tough to remove. Depending how rugged you are you may need a "cheater extension" ( piece of pipe) on the end of the wratchet or breaker bar When these two braket bolts are removed the rotor slides straight off. If it sticks the least bit a heavy dead blow hammer on the back side will pop them loose.

When re-assembling everything be sure the slider pins are clean and re-grease them with synthetic brake grease.

Good luck to ya, Wish you were here, whe have all tools necessary

Some rotors slid off leaving the 4x4 hub in place, and some you have to remove the outer and inter bearings and the rest of the 4x4 locking items in the hub. The first one is easy, but the other is a lot harder and special tools are needed. The diff. is the first is a rotor by its self and the second one is rotor and hub assembly.

First remove the calipers, then you can take the nut in the center of the spindle off. Once the spindle nut is off, the rotor should come off. Be sure you replace the grease seal on the new rotor.

You are going to need a torque wrench and a very large socket to start. If you have not done this, have it done as you can cause a potentially dangerous situation if done improperly.
You can buy the Chilton or Haynes manual to give you the step by step process though.
