To be honest, I would try to respect her decision, but I would be really heartbroken, because I would be worried that she would be sent off to fight. Please think through your decision carefully, so that you can be sure you've made the right one.

I'll be heartbroken, devastated.. but I have to respect it.

I think the toughest part here is when you are being deployed for duty. Don't know which country you're from, but to be honest if any of my love ones is being deployed to Iraq or Afghan on a tour of duty, I am going to literally having sleepless nights until he/she returns home...

But anyway I guess we have to respect it anyway. I mean, I'm not the kind who force my views and what I wants onto others. You may not be happy too if you miss this opportunity to serve your country.

Edit:
To be honest we don't know how your bf will react, but I'd say anyone would have been heartbroken when someone they loves gets deploy off for duty. But at the same time, its something we have to deal with. Afterall, the thousands of soldiers in Afghan and Iraq have people who love and miss them, yet they have to go anyway.

I really dont think it matters the gender of this question....sit him down and talk to him and tell him your feelings and convictions on the matter. If a person loves you, they are willing to support you and give you the space to follow your dreams.

unless you don't have any other career in mind, the Army would be a good choice
