i put on weight a little at first, it increases your appetite but i kinda got used to it and stopped eating as much.
I'm actually coming off the injection though because i had serious mood swings when i was on it.

Hey. I'm guessing its the same injection that I was one - the "Depo" injection.
it is a well known fact that one the contraceptive injection that your periods do stop, however, you will have the occassional bleed. If you can remember back to when you had your first injection, they would have probably asked you to go for it just after you had finished your period, so this is the time that you would normally be having it.
I do not want to sound patronizing, but obviously periods are just the lining of your womb breaking down. There will be times when the build up gets abit too much and you will have a period. it shouldn't be anything like normal ones though, (heavy and painful).
You won't be pregnant. No contraceptive is 100% guarenteed, but this is sure on of the best.
Yes you do put abit of weight on for some reason when you are on the injection, I don't know if it contains some of the properties found in steiroids (which also make you eat more), but that is a common side effect.
One thing I would like to warn you about is other side effects if you are on the injection for too long (I'm talking 18months onwards). You do have a higher risk of developing complaints like oesteoparosis (can't spell sorry!!), so I know you said you were thinking of possibly coming off it, but if you don't, then just increase your calcium intake and that should help for the short term.
Anyway. I hope this helps you and ignore the idiot who said you were over weight!! x

The DP injection is a very effective form of contraception. You should not require the morning after pill. Use condoms anyway whilst you are on this injection as it only protects you from pregnancy not STD's. You are fully protected from pregnancy 14 day after the injection. You must go back for the injection every 12 weeks not every 3 months. The nurse will give you a date when you need your next dose. Make sure you make your appointment well in advance so you are not later then the 12 weeks. You5r periods may be a little all over the place in the first 6 to 8 weeks, but then in most cases you don't have periods at all. Make sure you still have a good daily intake of dairy products as the DP injection can effect bone growth so you need to take real care that you are having good natural sources of calcium. Good luck hunni, I'm sure you will be fine. Be safe and well.

check with the doctor but im sure its fine, I was on the jag for a year and come of it because of weight gain, headaches and yes the terrible mood swings. I never had a period in all that time but have known people that constantly bled and also someone who bled now and again. Id use protection if you really dont want to get pregnant but double check with the doctor, im sure its normal.

Its perfectly normal. You are protected at the 99% effectiveness of the birth control. Remember nothing is 100% except for abstinence. People DO get pregnant on the shot.
At any time you could bleed for months, have a regular period, or spot at odd moments of the month.
I would reconsider the shot. Please read the reviews at this site:
http://www.rateitall.com/t-330-birth-control-methods.aspx
and google "depo provera lawsuit".
I was on it for a few years and I'm OFF of it now, on the pill (Kariva) and a lot happier and healthier.

Everyone is different, I had the injection & it brought me out in loads of dirty big spots on my chin & i had the browny discharge you normally get at the beginning of your period for 14 days every month. I came off it in the end. I'm sure its nothing to worry about just your hormones gone a bit haywire with the withdrawal of the previous jab.
