Premarital sex was against the law of God because it was possible to get pregnant out of wedlock.
When condoms were invented and pregnancy out of wedlock was no longer a large concern, the Church said that premarital sex with condoms was still against the law of God because having a barrier degraded the act of intercourse.
When birth control was invented and having a physical barrier was no longer necessary to preventing pregnancy outside of wedlock, the Church said that premarital sex with birth control was still against the law of God because each act of intercourse had to be open to the chance of creating life.
I'm sure this is where they judge that homosexual acts are sinful because they can't create life.
So... this meant that married but infertile couples couldn't have sex? That married women past menopause couldn't have sex with their husbands?
If a woman is not ovulating when having sex with her husband, isn't that the same thing is not creating life?
It's all warped.

They have that warped view or did for control. Much like how at one time if you paid enough you could get a paper that said you were getting into heaven. If you take something that's natural and declare it evil, but say, "oh if you do it, WE can help you with forgiveness" it fills the pews on Sunday. It's control and fear... Which gives them the power to tell YOU how to live your life, all because the Bible says it.

Speaking of which, the Bible was INSPIRED by God, but WRITTEN by man.... so who's to say there aren't bias judgments in there?

Not slamming religion, just stating what I've learned through religious schooling... I mean if your beliefs make you happy and you aren't hurting anyone, follow them. As everyone is allowed to have their own beliefs in life.

Why Does The Catholic Church Have Such Warped Views About Sex?

You're asking that about the CATHOLIC CHURCH??? Hon, they've had warped views about EVERYTHING for CENTURIES. They were the ones who brought about the Spanish Inquisition - thousands of men, women, and children being tortured and slaughtered merely because they were non-believers. The same goes for the Crusades. And let's not forget about all of the innocent little boys down through the centuries who were raped by priests, only to have the Catholic Church deny it up until recently - the only action taken being to move the rapist-priests to different churches, and essentially giving them consent to continue with their abominable ways. Who knows what other atrocities that Church has committed since its creation? And people ask me why I won't reconvert...

God is concerned with how we treat each other.

We have been instructed to love
+ Our neighbor as we love ourselves
+ One another as Jesus loved us

When we treat each other like sex objects, when sex is taking instead of giving, we damage the human dignity of both our partner and ourselves.

True giving of yourself to another in a sacramental marriage is what love is all about.

Marriage is a symbol of God's creation of the world in an act of divine love and self-outpouring.

Marriage is a symbol of the love, commitment, intensity, and passion of Christ for the Church for which He laid down His life.

Christians take sex very seriously because it is a glorious gift from God that lets us feel just a bit like God. We become lovers, givers, and creators.

====

The eternal moral law of God does not change.

Premarital sex was a sin in the time of Moses and is a sin today because it is contrary to their human dignity and the dignity of human sexuality.

Artificial birth control was a sin in the time of Moses (and they did have some forms) and is a sin today. Natural forms of birth control have always been allowed.

There are no rules about married couples not having sex:
+ Married but infertile couples can have sex
+ Married post-menopausal women can have sex
+ Married non-ovulating woman can have sex (this is an allowed and encouraged form of natural birth control)

With love in Christ

The catholic church has warped views on a lot of things. They need to get out of the closet and look at the whole world not just what goes on in and around their church.

i was raised catholic, i dont really practice my faith time as according to the rules of the church at this point in my life, actually i really never did. i dont believe that everything the catholic church teaches and by no means did i ever live by this law, i had premarital sex and a baby out of wedlock (by the way my church nor my priest pursecuted me for this). but i think you dont exactly have you facts straight as for the reasoning of this law.... God intended for sex to be a special act of love (not lust) that is shared between two people. sex was a gift given for husband and wife to share to show there love and admiration for one another and to be able to give pleasure to one another. by doing this before marriage or abusing the gift and with multiple people, it takes the pureness of the gift god created. the church never said the reason was to not have a child out of wedlock, it was because sex is an experience that the church believes is special and should only be shared between husband and wife. yes they are against condoms and birth control because it goes against the plans god has for the individual, they believe if he wills it , it will be. they never said that pregnancy was the reason for not having premarital sex. like i said i didnt practice this, but i did use restraint and i did marry the man i had sex with eventually. it was something special i only shared with him and i am glad that i was able to restrain myself because it makes it that much more special for me. now the topic of homosexuality, i am not sure where there views stand on that. i know they are against it, i believe because in the bible it says every man should have his own wife., these rules where made so long ago when they viewed it as perversion. there were many homosexuals in the time of christ and romans practiced it openly. i dont believe homosexuality is deliberate, i dont believe it is something that is chosen or something we should condem anyone for. i have a niece that is gay, she is a teenager. she has not came out about it yet but she was gay from the day she was born, she came that way! not something she chose, i dont think God would condem anyone for something that is not a choice. i dont believe in the churches views on birth control or homosexuality, but i do believe that sex was created to be shared between two people who are committed to eachother and plan to spend the rest of their lives together. the devil is there to put the temptation there for us, to disintergrate the gifts god as given us.

Sex is to be between a man and woman in marriage because it is a special act of their love, whether she is ovulating or not, which makes them become one flesh. The first time for a woman is always special and something she always remembers no matter how many partners she has later and forgets. Homosexuality is perverse and objectionable to everyone except the ones who have allowed their minds to be completely reprobate. Your whole view is screwed up and reduces the act to nothing but a physical performance because you want to fulfill your lusts!!! And I'm not Catholic.

I Corinthians 6:9-10 "Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanders nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God."

Those aren't rules the Catholic Church invented folks, thats God's word. Have a problem with it pray to God about it.
