Do you ever think about your first love? Are they in your dreams at times?

Question

I do, he was my Jr. High/High School boyfriend. We dated over 10 years. We remained friends, and still are. I am 46, he is 50 now. We do sometimes see each other @ certain get togethers. His wife is awesome. When I leave the event, I still hug him, and hug his wife, too. Our kids hang out at these events. It is really ironic. What is strange, is when I have been burnt in relationships since he was in my life, or am having a bad day, I still dream of him. We are just laughing and hanging out. Never intimate. My daughter noticed that we looked @ each other when we last saw each other, and just would smile. We still can read each other's minds. He was a soul mate, truly. There is a very good reason why we split up, but, I can't reveal it. He betrayed me, nuff said. (He cheated, with consequences to me)- Do any of you still dream of ur first TRUE love when ur life is going badly? Just curious. Thanks for the SINCERE answers. PS-This was a relationship that started 33 yrs ago.Weird or not?

What does this mean, do you think. The dreams...What would you analyize this to mean?

I can't put my finger on my "first love" because I always loved boys. But I know what you mean exactly. I get those dreams and they signal 'rejection' for me. And a certain boy from my elementary school days is in them. I never could understand why he didn't want me. It didn't make any sense to me. The girl he did want was creepy and a tomboy. Anytime he is in a dream I feel rejected. Maybe you feel betrayed each time he's in a dream. That would be my best guess. You can't figure out why he betrayed you.

I don't dream of my first love, How ever I do dream of my second..and not just when things are going badly....just here and there.. All I can think is that there is an unfinished feeling between us, except he avoids me, We no longer have any contact what so ever. I think your dreams are stemming from your feelings from him. You call him your first TRUE love and soul mate and that the break up was his doing , for certain reasons, so I would guess there is some regret and your subconscious is playing out your feelings while you dream trying to give you closure or something.

I dream of my brothers and mother quite often and when I awaken I feel as though I've had a lovely trip back home. Sometimes I will dream of two brothers at a time and it makes me feel so happy. Does this mean I'm getting really old?

sure at times yet same thing happened i was oh so in love and come to find out we had met when we were younger and didn't know it until months onto the relatoinship.and he too cheated or was back and forth between wife and i. it was a long seven year roller coaster i had enough we were both seperated from our other 1/2 yet i got my divorce he never did we share a child but i some times see him and the memories flood into my heart and mind things we shared i dream abot him every now and then yet i don't read into them it too is weird at times i just let it go yet now the question u should ask yourself is are there unressolved issues between you both? do you wish things were different?or do you need closure to some degree? but if your still friends thats cool

I fell deeply in love in high school and even married him when I was twenty. And if either of us had been even a little bit more mature, we might have made it. As it was, it just didn't work out. Later, he and his second wife separated and he contacted me. I realized that I still loved him and he realized how much he loved his wife. I went on to marry a wonderful guy and we have two beautiful little girls but I do still think about number one. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will always think about him and wonder about him but that does not take away from the love I have for my husband. I do envy you, though, that you still have a friendship with yours. I don't even know where my first love is living.

Yes I do dream of my first love. Of course I never got to date him but I still loved him for a long time and we were friends. I think it is a what if thing that worked out, would it be better. Dreaming of him give me the fantasy of having a dream life.

Yes i remember my first love he and i were going to be married. I meet him through a friend and we were young and in love. But sadly he had to go to Vietnam War (1967) and was killed over there after beaning there a year and he had only 3 more days there till he could come home. His death was so hard on me and his family too. I will always remember him in my heart. Just a very sad; sad time then in my life.

You are still in love with each other. I too, have an old girlfriend that I think about almost daily. I am 53 and so is she. We were together in Highschool. I haven't seen her since I was 22 years old, she lives clear across the country in North Carolina and me in Montana. My heart still throbs for this wonderful lady , Pam. I wonder if she ever thinks fondly of me too.

I don't dream about her, but my first love connected to me on Facebook last month, totally out of the blue. I've thought about her on and off for fifteen years, but her getting in touch has put a stop to that completely. I now have closure, and it turns out I have absolutely no feelings for her !!

My lover is my first love, certainly he's in my dreams almost every night, as I liked it that way... In fact, even if he's not with me anymore, it will never change the fact that he's my first love so he will be a significant person in my life... ^_^
