I noticed last night the moon was shining gold all night. I went out about five minutes to five this morning and the moon was huge and blood red...I wonder why? I live in Los Angeles, Ca by the way. Think it has something to do with the wild fires happening here?

Picture the moon rotating around the Earth, sometimes the moon is at a spot where the Sun's rays can barely hit it(this makes the phases of the moon), and some of the light will reflect off the Earth's atmosphere and hit the moon, changing the color.

The moon is red where you are because of the winds blowing ashes into the air. Check the moon tonight after the winds die down and the moon may be its normal color again.

Their is Santa Anna winds blowing on the moon and big fires are spreading. The shuttle is leaving to see if they can stop the carnage. I heard on the news its one of the biggest fires ever up there.

Smoke particles in the air are causing the reflected light of the moon to scatter, making it appear red.
