Such as 'arks' instead of 'ask' & 'prostrate' instead of 'prostate'. This bugs me, but I couldn't be so rude as to correct them.

I get very irritated when people say they decorate costumes with SEQUENCES, when it should be SEQUINS.
Rather petty, I know, but, yes, it annoys me too.

I was thrown out of a class for having
pointed out an instructor's errant
pronunciation of,
Nuclear.

That was in 1980.

Also for me:
* They'll divide Often into two major syllables,
with a hard 'T'.
* Sim-You-lar, vs. the right, Similar.
* The Supposably one is Supposedly fixable,
but, it is rather grating.
* Where DO they get Aluminum's "alternate"?
* I've met three separately-affiliated people
from Stanford University who pronounce
Good in an oddly faux-pompous tone,
as though they are owners of it, as though
it were floating apart from the rest of their
words in a phrasing.
* For brevity, I shalln't go on.

Shouldn't that be "shan't"?

Thats just a few samples of words I hear quiet often.

Yeah the "axe" instead of ask buggs me too.. but what really annoys me is when people throw around the words "irregardless" and "like".

Just for the record.. I can't for the life of me pronounce Aluminium and I don't try!

Nucular instead of nuclear.
Prolly instead of probably.
Aks instead of ask.
Pose ta instead of supposed to.
Share instead of chair (tends to be a native spanish speaker's problem).

I hear people say 'supposably' instead of supposedly all the time. Highly annoying.

Prolly (for probably) is another word that comes to mind. This word is even written 'prolly'.

well, people usually pronounce /i/ as /ee/

i.e. live (v.)

they pronounce it as leave

so it sounds like

i leave at Illinois.

i really hate it. also bad grammar.
