“One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday

So, yearly fires that happen since before the area was even settled are now due to global warming. And people wonder why I don't care about their whole stupid movement.

He is a moon bat.

Did he have his tin foil hat on????

California always had fires, this morning they just picked a guy up that started one or two of them. So maybe it is the moon bat mindset that they have these fires.

dingy should just do what he is best at, what that is who the hell knows but he should do that.

It hasn't just been Reid. The head of the National Forest Service and the head of the National Weather Bureau both have said that global warming, lack of moisture (rain and snow pack in the mountains, unusual high temps this past summer, have all contributed to the severity of the fires.

So you think Reid's CORRECT assessment about Global Warming being one of the main causes for California's 8 year long drought (drought being one of the main cause [that and high winds] of the fires in California) shows him to be insane? Hello kettle, this is pot, you're black.

I live in Arizona. We are in the 13th year of a 6 year drought cycle. Drought is a fact of life, caused by too little snowpack in the winters, melting and becoming H2O. Too little water is what is known as a DROUGHT. When there is too little water for the availble plants and trees in an area, their moisture level drops immensely and any old lightning bolt can come along and start things burning.

Add to that large open areas with groundcover just recovering from EARLIER massive fires, not to mention hills and valleys which focus and direct high winds (which can FAN fires and push them all over the place) and you have a recipe for what has happened in CA.

Ahhh, actually the Head of the Federal Forest Fire Service said last nite on TV that this is a direct result of global warming.

We have never had in recorded history the number and size of fires we are currently (the last 15 years) experiencing.

He said it is due to higher temperatures leading to an earlier spring and early runoff of snowpack thus drying out the brush and trees that would normally be resistant to fires in the past, adding 78 days on average to the "fire season" in the West

pull you're head out of the sand and wake up, Harry Reid is right on with this one.

His opinion is that wildfires are more frequent, more fierce and larger than before. Drought and a change in wind patterns have caused this, and it's a reasonable conclusion that global warming is a factor.

Some People believe that the severe droughts we are experiencing is cause by Global Warming. How does this make him crazy when he agrees with our leading Scientists?

If he'd shut his blow hole the temperature would go down 3 degrees and the wind would let up.
