I'm a nurse who works night shift and have to work very long hours if we're short (around 12-16 hours at a time). I have a bleeding disorder and there's a history of miscarriages in my family. Do you think my Dr. would consider putting me on restrictions (at least 12 hour restrictions) due to these problems, or do you think it'd be alright to continue working like I have been?

Definately get the restrictions from your doctor. As you are further along in your pregnancy, you will probably want to cut down to 8-10 hours or you will be flat out exhausted. Most doctors have no problem putting you on restriction at your request. They just want you to be comfortable.

I think it would be wise to get a doctor's restrictions in your situation. It sounds like you have a reasonable request, and that a doctor in your corner will make it so you have a safer pregnancy, and don't feel obligated or get pushed into working harder than you should be. I teach school, and it's only 8 hours daily, and I'm worn out at the end, so I don't know how you would even do a 12 hour shift! Good luck!

I do nursing for MRDD i am high risk. only 10 weeks but see the Doctor every 2 weeks. was even bleeding internally from a ruptured cyst (clomid). I work 4 12 hour shifts Mon night Thur Friday morning.. It will depend on the stress of work you do mine is easy easy even get paid to sleep 8 of the 4 hours if my 1 client is sleeping. Now if it was like my last job and your on your feet ALL shift but to do the few hours of paper work. I would really ask your doctor. I know those 16 hour shifts can really get to you even when your not tired from pregnancy! Best thing is to take care of yourself and baby. Let others pick up the slack for a little. Take care!

It might be helpful to know what bleeding disorder you have. I have a mthfr mutation and am on an 81mg Aspirin daily to prevent my blood from clotting around the uterus (thus killing the baby). My doctor hasn't restricted my physical activity or work (I work 10 hour shifts as a waitress on night shift - not as strenuous as your job but certainly stressful!!).
:Like everyone else I would suggest talking with your doctor because he is familiar with your condition and the limitations that should be put on you during this time.
I wish I could be of more help. Good luck!

I would think it would be best for you to cut way back, and im sure the dr will agree.
