Advertising during F1 racing is totally ruining the viewing .I resent every advertiser who takes over the race and I totally resent the BBC for letting these ITV morons Totally ruin what used to be a great tv viewing speectacle..As some contributers have already suggested When the yellow flags are showing would be an ideal time to advertise and it would not interrupt the flow of the race. I genuinely felt that I had not watched a race and if Lewis had not beenin the race I would have switched off

The only thing that I hate about the ITV coverage is the adverts. But I agree with comments below that picture in picture would be ideal! They wouldn't dare put an advert in in the middle of a football or rugby match, then why is a live F1 race any difference!

Why do ITV have to break the race to show adverts. Race only lasts for 90 minutes or so, surely they can show plenty of adverts b4/after race. I suppose it comes down to revenue and they probably rake it in during the race by showing adverts. They wouldn't show adverts after 15 minutes of a football match though!! A few years ago whilst on holiday, I watched an F1 Grand Prix which was on a German channel. They had adverts during the race, but split the screen in 2, so you could still watch the action. Why have itv never done this, it can obviously be done.

I like ITV's coverage, apart from the breaks, and missing Fleetwood Mac's The Chain, but they tell you alot more information about the race, do interviews and have Martin's grid walk, BBC only talked for 5 minutes about the race then cracked on with it. Murray was on ITV as well, he wasn't just with the BBC. I wish he would come back, but he'd probably have a heart attack nowadays with Lewis!!

I believe in America most major sports events have a picture in picture process for the advertisements which keeps both the sponsors and the viewer happy.
I'm sure ITV could pull their finger out manage such an extravagance.
Yes, I do miss the BBC coverage though, I miss Murray Walker too.

I like the extra coverage of technical issues that ITV do, but it would be better if they could go through the race with no ad breaks. In theory there are quiet spots during the race where ads could be fitted in, but as we saw on Sunday, you often miss important bits and then have to suffer inane updates from the dweeb James (that was majestical by Lewis) Allen. The coverage would be better just by merely replacing him and partnering Brundle with another former driver.

Why do they need to go to a commercial? THE WHOLE RACE IS AN ADVERTISEMENT ALREADY. They have sponsers on the cars, the helmuts, the uniforms and all the billboards around the track.
They should only be allowed to go to commercial under yellow flag or a safety car. ITV went to commercial at the worst time and then didn't even show a replay.

ITV do have to make a profit somehow, and the best route is via the advertising programme currently in place.
What made the last race was so poor in viewing standards was the editing at trackside plus the commentary missing the updates required post advertising.
At one stage of the race I had no idea who was winning or why.

And unless I'm very much mistaken... yes I do miss the BBC coverage.
Murray Walker is a living legend.
