i am wondering if they hav "Matariel" (the spider like angel who apparenty appears during the blackout and all evas are sent out to fight it on the battery) in manga form. i thought i read it about 5 yrs ago but now i hav book 1-11 (downloaded) and its not in there. does anyone kno if its in book form? and is so, any links to downloading?
but sadly if not, is there any links to watching it as anime? thx =]

The mangas and the TV episodes are not exact duplicates. That particular angel does not appear in the mangas. I had the same problem because I read them on line first then found DVD's.
I was able to find the first few episodes on yahoo video. you can choose between japanese, english or subtitiles. My sound doesn't work, so I have to look for subtitles, but maybe you could watch some of the english ones.
I only discovered NGE less than three months ago, but Rei is my favorite character. She seems very compassionate... I think she would have protected anybody the way she protected Shinji, but she just didn't have a way to express the caring side of her nature before that.

Well usually the manga contains more than the actual anime so yes it should be there along with some stuff you probably haven't seen
