One with which I am quite familiar is the Coldwell Banker NRT Agency, which is the corporate subsidiary of the Coldwell Banker franchising system. In short NRT is owned by Coldwell Banker, and they operate agencies in nearly every state, particularly in areas where there is no privately owned Coldwell Banker franchise.
At last report, NRT Coldwell had over 30,000 agents across the United States.

Multiple states...particularly in California? Ok, that's one state.
All franchised real estate offices are joined with other companies in all the states through what is called a "Referral System". This eliminates the need for them to hold multiple licenses in multiple states. Check with any well-advertised real estate company (ERA, ReMax, Century21, GMC....etc) and they can lead you to their other offices in other states.
Good Luck!

RE/MAX is one of the largest agencies in the world, with over 100,000 agents worldwide. You can research if there are any RE/MAX agents where you're looking by going to www.remax.com. Also, you can look at all the homes listed in that area from that website.
