liquid...this is because the very very hot temperatures at the core of the earth... the iron ore there is also melted due to this which scientists believe is the reason for the earth's magnetic fields...
cheers

My geography teacher told us that Earth is like a Ferrero Rocher. So... the most inner core must be as hard as a nut.
Yeah, it's true! If you guys dun believe me:
"The inner core is a primarily solid sphere about 1220 km in radius. It is slightly larger than the moon and it is warmer than the sun. The Inner core is a solid ball of nickel and iron, which has the pressure of the whole earth.[1] situated at Earth's center."

The inner core is solid: iron nickel
The outer core is liquid.
Yes it is possibe to know: (from wikipedia)
Seismic measurements show that the core is divided into two parts, a solid inner core with a radius of ~1220 km and a liquid outer core extending beyond it to a radius of ~3400 km. The solid inner core was discovered in 1936 by Inge Lehmann and is generally believed to be composed primarily of iron and some nickel.
Didn't you pay attention in class that day. ?

Both.
Inner core is solid because the intense pressures raises the melting point of iron very very much.
Outer core is liquid because the heat and pressure facilitate the temperature for iron melting.
Both of iron-nickel compositions.
How do we know? Seismic wave patterns. Specifically P-waves.

This cannot be answered as noone has been there to find out. There have been many assumptions and theories, therfore any answer would be based on personal belief.
Obviously under the crust is molten magma, but how would you get through that to find out?
