Is it safe to eat deer meat during pregnancy?

Steve- ha ha. Thanks, you really made me smile with that. :]

My hubby loves deer meat and wanted to cook it for dinner tonight. We always eat our meat well done so I think it'll be okay! Thanks guys!

As long as the deer is dead and cooked (preferably well-done) there will be no apparent problem. If the deer is alive it's not okay to eat it. They are generally hard to outrun and wrestle to the ground this practice is especially not recommended for a pregnant woman.

Ok, I am sure that Steve is going to get best answer for this one, but I will put my two cents in as well.
It should be perfectly safe to eat the deer meat. It is lean and loaded with protein. Good for you, good for baby, too.
If the Deer was tested for Chronic Wasting Disease (very similar to BSE) and came up clear there should be absolutely nothing wrong with the meat and probably better for you than commercial beef or pork.

Hi there I cant see that it would be a problem with you eating dear meat as long as you didnt eat to much.
But I would consult your doctor for more information.

well right now in NY we are watching something called blue tongue disease, DEP is saying it is safe, but you can't transport deer between states, and you know how the officials always change their story...today yes, tomorrow no!!!! but normally I would say go for it.

It would have to be cooked to well done, I would expect. I can't see why it would be any different to eating beef or lamb.
