No idea cause i was just as active through my pregnancies as i was when not, ok except for the big huge bulge out front , but i was sanding floors, moving wheelbarrows of crusher dust around, swinging a pick, painting there was not a dam thing i couldn't do, ok i couldn't touch my toes or knit (cause i don't know how) I moved into my house at seven months and it was just me and the man doing it,
Some people can''t do to much due to medical but apart from that i see no reason for it not to be buisness as usual

First of all I can tell you that "the cord could get wrapped round the baby's neck and strangle him" is an absolute myth!!!!!
Second of all us pregnant women have a pregnancy hormone called "relaxin" which softens the ligaments and can cause strain on them which causes back ache etc, so we can lift things but need to do it properly ie keeping the back straight and bending the knees. This is the same reason that we mustn't excert ourselves when excercising!

I waitress and I carry treys and other things that weigh about 35lbs. I told my doctor and he said as long as I have been doing it for a long time there is no problem and I am in my second month and havent had any problems with it yet.
People are changing their view points on how pregnant women are incapable of doing anything. Which is good but I was hoping for him to say quit my job and be lazy for the next 9 months, but no such luck.

good question! I suppose so you don't cause injury to yourself like strain your pelvic ligaments or back or cause undue stress to the uterus which could possibly bring on labour early.
I moved furniture when I was pregnant, but they never said anything about pushing stuff!
maybe its just an old wives tale made up by pregnant women to get out of doing stuff! Certainly came in handy when I had to move house at 5mths pregnant!!

The ligaments in your tummy and back tend to soften in pregnancy so therefore extra strain on them tends to damage them more easily.

Because its puts alot of strain on a woman's abdomen area which in turn can cause pre-mature labor.

during pregnancy the ligaments around you back and abdomen stretch due to your bump therefore they are weaker so you are more likely to cause yourself injury or have back pain

Because later in pregnancy, the cord may be around the babies neck and lifting may cause you to strangle the unborn baby.
