Depends on how YOU define "better". And if you mean High School or University education. There are of course definitions of what a "good education" is....check the UN website.....
Having said that...look at the standard of living of both countries....If the educations system in the UK is superior than the US (like most UK politicians like to claim...and the NHS and so on and so on....- specially if you are a Labour one) than why is the standard of living in the US so much higher than the UK (among other things)?
and why are American workers so much more productive than UK workers? etc....This is a very simplistic view but nevertheless it indicates something does it not?
It is true that most Americans do not have a "world" view of things but I think this is more to do with a culture than the education system....

Look, bad as the British education system is, nothing could ever be worse than the American one.

I had an American friend who grew up here but who moved back to the States for the last two years of school. He told me that the subjects he covered for his school-leaving exams were things he'd already gone over in this country when he was 12.

Americas in theory, as you have to pass every year of High School, but in practice that must be very stressful with all those exams.
So i'd go with Britains.

not studied in America, but the British system is cr*p, it needs sorting out and fast.
I can't believe it ha taken them this long to notice how many people are leaving school without the basics. I just hope it doesn't take as long to do something about it.
