Good question!
I asked myself about this before. Why some accounts are kept on private? Now, reading from the answers here I get the point.
But still I don`t want to keep my Q&A private as I am not regular here in P&S. Perhaps, when I reach level 7 I will do that.lol

The benefits are debatable. I know for a fact that your questions can still be reported by just about anyone. You ask your question and it goes on the question page... anyone on Yahoo at that time can see it. People answer your question and they are permanant for that question and can report it now or three months down the road. People just looking at your question on the question page can just report without starring or answering. I also found out that some of our names can be googled and questions and answers from us show up.I am really starting to question how great the private feature is. If it were so fool proof, I wouldn't get even one violation.

Because other people on here can go back through your questions and answers and report OLD ONES! No need in that. Not only that, but because they are MY Q/A's and I can do what I want with them. I can delete all too. It's my private stuff. ok? ;)

real, if somebody is heavily out to get you, he will come across a manner, yet placing your questions and solutions to non-public facilitates in maximum circumstances. I even have executed the equivalent to get rid of a few stalkers who not basically stated my solutions wrongly, yet additionally copied them and later tried to place up them as their own.

I only let people in my contacts see them because I had someone trying to get me booted off and it nearly worked. So I only let people I know have access, damn intruders, lol

Trolls can't report you as much as they would. I putted my Q&A on private because i had too many violation notices.

l got deleted from level 7 as l am trying to work my way back up l don't want stalkers to loose me my account again, level 7s are targets for trolls!!!!
