I want to know when the time period in which the atlatl was used by tribes in Native America (an atlatl is a tool that allows you to throw darts or spears much further than normal). Thanks.

The atlatl has been used by early Native Americans long ago. It seems to have been introduced during the immigration across the Bering Land Bridge, a wide section of exposed seabed that connected Asia and North America during the last Ice Age.
The oldest known atlatl is more than 19,000 years old. It is believed that the atlatl was in use for more than 40,000 years.

The atilt was the predecessor to the bow, the progenitor. They still have contests in the Southwest for these ancient weapons.
I believe it was when the first Neanderthal saw a Homo Sapien put an atlatl lance (arrow) in his sling and toss it. He was probably awe struck at the distance he made with it. If he was an intelligent person, he may have looked up to the starts and saw the last of his kind, walking through the mist forever more. Knowing the new Homo Sapien would now rule the earth.

In Native America, maybe, but the bow by now would have taken over. Not to say some would have still used the altalt
