I was with my boyfriend 2 days before I should have ovulated according to the calculator things on here. I wound up pregnant. Your body releases cervical fluid (clear mucus) when the egg is released. Thats how I know its time.

we'll without wishing to sound personal - but unavoidable...
I am now 33 weeks gone. I was 'trying' in February (and before obviously) and had a 29 day cycle. We left a window of 10 days with day 14 in the middle and we 'did it' every 2nd day.
In February my partner went off to an overseas football thing on day 11 (having done it the night before) and I was so angry with him as we were missing all that time. Low and behold I missed my period! I was convinced it was my body playing games and angrily bought a test just to get it out of the way and for my period to arrive. When it was positive I was gobsmacked. So your question! who knows - can sperm can survive from day 10 to day 14? I am guessing that I must have ovulated on day 12 ? and if my books are right that should mean I am carrying a girl - if I go and have a boy I shall be really confused.
Hope I have not confused you even further and sorry for being so graphic.

For me it varies from month to month sometimes it is nearer to day 17 than day 14. The best way to tell without monitoring is to check your cervical mucus. The egg white consisitency is the most fertile. Sperm have been known to live up to seven days but more often just for 3 days. The egg white nourishes the sperm while they wait for ovulation. With my pregnancies i did not chart or use a fertility moniter i just went on cervical mucus and got pregnant very quickly. Do the baby dance every day you have mucus and you stand a good chance of getting pregnant.
Hope this helps.

I ovulate around the 13-14th day of my cycle. I've never tested this in terms of monitors and such but I know because my breasts get tender, I get the slight pain in my abdo and my CM definately changes. I find it hard to believe your friend doesn't ovulate till the 24th day unless she has an abnormally long cycle.
