I'm compiling a Halloween CD so I'd like it to sound a bit eerie.

I heard Britten's Agnus Dei and it was perfect! I was, however, looking for something sung solo by a child.

The Kyrie and Agnus Dei of Benjamin Britten's Misse Brevis might do the trick. It's accompanied by some "eerie" organ music.

Or for something less modern, try Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater: Quando Corpus Morietur and Amen". There is an awesome recording of it on the Amadeus sound track (disc 1, track 2) by the Choristers of Westminster Abbey. VERY nice. In fact, I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it. It's absolutely bone-chilling!!!

PS. I'd think one would be very hard pressed to find a single recording of a boy singing any of that text solo with no accompaniment. Perhaps if you know a boy soprano in your town you could have him sing into a microphone. Bribe him with Halloween candy or something.

Which particular Kyrie etc.? There must be literally thousands written by all kinds of composers over the years.
