Yes, the office is scripted. However, many of the actors are well known for Improv (improvising) and when it works during filiming, it is retained in the episode. Steve Carrell is known for this as is Rainn Wilson. Others contribute as well. In the past the improv led to postings on YouTube (the more you know joke commercials) until NBC dissassociated itself from that website.

Nope. Maybe a loose adaption of some jokes on the pilot. British humor doesn't really translate to America. They were supposed to adapt "The Young Ones" if you can remember that one but no one got the jokes when they made the pilot episode. Not to forget that the original is VERY raunchy and would never, I repeat NEVER pass with censors in the good ol U.S.A. They can actually show breasts on the B.B.C. Don't belive me? Watch Monty Python and see.

Yes, it is. However, many of the actors have improv experience and thus some unscripted bits sometimes make it in. (See the commentary on the DVDs for more info.)

Yes, but it is done in a documentary style so that is looks more like reality TV
