From a Christian point of view - marriage is made up of 3 things...
1. Leaving (parents - starting your own family unit - I don't mean having children!)
2. Legal declaration (the marriage ceremony/wedding)
3. Cleaving (sex)

Sex is important as part of a healthy marriage - it isn't just a baby-making technique! Sex is an important expression of love and submission to each other. This is not to say that either partner can demand sex from the other - a couple needs to work out what is comfortable for both of them. From the Christian perspective - it is an appreciation of God's wonderful design for human relationships.

As an aside, I always find that my marriage is a lot healthier if we have regular sex! :)

sex is an act of love shared between husband and wife within a marriage. Any sexual relationship outside marriage is not in accordance with the biblical principles.

It's an expression of love to your spouse. When you allow your spouse to intercourse with you, you are giving your whole self to him/her, trusting him/her with your life. some people will go for pleasure alone, but contentment is what matters.

Sex is God's plan for husband and wife. It is His desire for couples to enjoy each other and share their intimacy. It should not be seen as dirty or ungodly. Because of God's love, they can accomodate each other and be able to embrace the shortcomings that might happen. Christians couples like many couples would face problems in their sexual relationship. They should seek help from professional counsellor so they can enjoy this gift from God fully.

I am with Becci in this one and I am going a little farther. While no one partner can demand sex from the other, the Word is clear that after marriage, neither partner can withold sexual relations nor use it as a tool of manipulation.

Christians should work at having a great sex life, it's a gift from God. There should be no third parties or pornography involved, and if there is a problem it's to be seen as 'our problem' not 'my problem'. Men do not have the right to demand sex and women do not have the right to withold it without good reason!

i guess technically within marriage (the only place it's allowed!) the christian view of sex is that it's for the creation of new life - sex = children
