(story from reader's digest)
I'm a public speaker who travels extensively, and ordering room service is part of my usual routine. One morning I awoke, picked up the phone and dialed operator. "Please connect me with room service," I groggily requested.
"You'll have to dial information,sir"
" Look, I'm tired and hungry,"I said in my most authoritative voice. " All I want you to do is connect me to room service."
" Yes, sir, I can tell that you're tired," the operator patiently replied. " But if you'll turn on your light, you'll probably find that you are at home."
I did and she was right.

This does happen. Happened once to me. I was calling the office to have me picked up. From my hotel room, I called the secretary in our HongKong office when all along I was in Singapore. Worse, the secretary thought I was in HongKong (I am there a lot) and sent a car to pick me up. She called me later asking where I was (thinking I might have been stuck in my room), saying that the car has been circling the hotel driveway for a while.

Very funny.

Can I share one? It is not about travel but about telephone conversation.

On his first day at office as manager, he reported early. Looking at the company directory to order coffee, he found one number. (local/extension number) and dialled it. After 5 rings, no one answered. He dialled it again and somebody answered it. In a loud voice, "Can you give me coffee immediately?" The other person asked "Do you know me?" "No!" answered the manager. He asked angrily, "Who are you?" "I am the president of this company", the other said. The manager put down the phone immediately. After a minute, the manager called the local/extension number again and asked angrily, "It's me again. Do you know me?" The president answered "No". The manager said "Very Good" and hung up.
