I am a Help Desk Analyst here in the US and I speak Spanish. I would like to know if I would be able to get a job in England and how the job market is. Also, what would be a decent price to pay to live with a roommate or flat mate?

i agree with the comment above

further to that... the uk is a place with hugely fluctuating prices of living, so depending on where you wanted to live would depend on how much it would be (eg in london you might pay £1000 a month for a flat, further up north you might pay £300...)

Actualy, you, as an American, can visit freely, without a visa, for up to 6 months. But ya can't work lol. If you want to work, not only will you need a visa, but you will need a work permit, and THAT is what the employer that wishes to hire you will have to apply for on your behalf. THEN you get the visa. Then you can move. But they were right, the position will need to be something that they have a shortage of, otherwise they have to show that they advertised the position and they weren't able to fill it with either a UK citizen OR an EU national. Difficult!
Here are some links that may be useful to you.
Good luck! :)

First step would be to try to get a work visa. Americans can not work in the UK without this. Usually, to get this, there has to be a need for a position that employers in UK cannot fill with there own citizens, so they may look to other countries. So before you look for roommates, make sure you can actually even get a job there for six months. Normal travel visas only last for 3 months, so even if you go there without a work visa, your stay would only be legal for the first three months. If you decide to go anyway, and work for cash "under the table" you risk getting caught, deported and banned from the country for many years. I would recommend doing it legally or not at all. Getting banned from countries sucks.
