If your friend is pregnant and bleeding, she needs to see a doctor, not be in a pool swimming. It is not okay to bleed during a pregnancy at any point, without having it evaluated. Each time, may I add. She may be trying to miscarry, and at the very least should be at rest with her feet up. She should not even think about inserting anything vaginally, certainly not a tampon. Her next stop needs to be either casualty or the gyn's office- not the pool.

You should never use a tampon while pregnant as it can introduce bacteria so close to your cervix and uterus.
Sorry but I think she'll need to put swimming off until the bleeding stops it's just not worth the risk.

You shouldn;t use tampons during or just after pregnancy at all. Tampons get bigger as they absorb liquid so theoreticaly they could reach the cervix. If I was her, I'd leave the swimming for a while until the bleeding stops.

sometims the body forms a mucus plug at the cervix during pregnancy, putting a tampon in will disturb this and she will be open to infection,
its dangerous and not worth the risk to her or the baby

Your friend should not be inserting anything vaginally as the others have said. Because she's bleeding she really needs to see her doctor today to have them check this out.
