The best time to say goodbye in a relationship is when you are not feeling comfortable with it. The relationship was built with love and comforts to each other, if you don't feel it anymore, it's best to say goodbye than feeling uncomfortable later on.

Depends on who your saying goodbye to. If it's an elf, make it a friendly goodbye or else all your cookies, shoes, and christmas presents will be rigged to make your life miserable. If it's a giant, it's most likely going to grind your bones to make his bread anyways, so just stay clear of them. Now, leprechauns, it's better to never say goodbye or just not to get into a relationship with them, unless you make them say goodbye. Otherwise, they'll put an everlasting curse on you which isn't very fun to deal with.

When you realize you are getting you are getting no fulfillment out of the relationship and that it isn't going to get any better. In which case, don't lead them on and don't make it harder then it has to be. Get out before your in too deep. Call it quits as soon as you know these things for sure. Then it is just a matter of gathering up the courage to tell them that it's over.

When you can't possibly take anymore. You're drained you know. Everyone who's been there knows its hard to do. But some things just have to be done eventually.Then you sit together and say, this is'nt going to work out,which is the truth. Its no fun making one of you or each other bitter/miserable is it?

Before you are totally sick of it. That way, if you are ever lonely, you can call him back up. But if you wait till he makes you want to puke, you'll never have a back up plan.
