determination- to make people see the things like they see it.. if the majority sees brilliance.. it is brilliant.. if the majority sees madness, it is mad. And a lot of times something that seems mad to the majority.. turns into something brilliant later on.. You cannot hide brilliance. But realization can take time. Most of the brilliant people happen to be mad.. and yes they are entitled to it.

I would say that the hairline difference between brilliance and madness is "reason".
Brilliance is brought about by profound reasoning on the uniqueness of something. It offers systematic answers of which proofs could be logically explained. Although it far exceeds the standard level of knowledge of a normal person, it still conforms with reality.
Madness, on the other hand, crosses that hairline and dissolve beyond reasons. The bright light starts to flicker and then gets snuffed taking down with it all valid sanity of the mind...And the absence of sound reason unleashes the confined monstrous persona from within.

Consciousness.

The brilliant are entitled to more than their "share" of madness because they delve deeper into their unconsciouses.

I think that sometimes madness is brilliance turned inwards, which leads to psychological entrophy.

But then most of the time it's just madness.

i think the line is drawn when one can't differentiate between percevied reality and otherwise. i don't necessarily think the brilliant are more entitled to madness than others because not all who are brilliant are prone to it. there are plenty of dull madmen out there.
