I have misplaced the instruction book. It is a Kenmore Ultrastitch 12. Model 1595281.

You should be able to get a copy of the instruction book from Sears' parts department.

Some machines now come with sintered bronze bearings that don't need oiling.
Here's a starter for you:

Use real sewing machine oil, not 3-in-1 (it gums up over time and freezes the machine, much bad language and work to clean it all out and start over, or $$$). Also do not use WD-40 -- it's a solvent and evaporates fairly quickly, leaving the area more prone to wear (and $$$ in repair). If you really have to know *today*, try the yahoo group "wefixit" -- it's a group of sewing machine fixing enthusiasts, and someone may know all the oiling points (or likely oiling points) for this machine.

Have you done a google search for a website that might have a printable manual for your machine? That's what I would do first and if you can't find a manual you'll probably at least find a phone number or address where you can request a replacement. I think it would be a little difficult to tell you how to oil the machine here. Illustrations are much more helpful.

Look for small access holes near the foot plate, moving parts, and hand wheel. They'll be about the size of a #2 pencil lead. Use 1-2 drops of 3-in-1 oil.
