It's usually called a reception. Not to be confused with a wake, which generally takes place the evening before the burial.

After the funeral, most everyone gathers at the cemetery. That gathering is called the "burial", even though in most cases, the actual burying of the casket is not performed.
If the body was cremated, there may be a "spreading of the ashes".
Alternatively, there may be an "entombment" of the body, whether cremated or not, in a mausoleum.
In the south, the custom used to be to have a funerary band play dirges on the way to the burial or entombment. After that gathering, the funerary band would play happy tunes on the way back into town. That's the way I want to end things - not with sadness, but with rejoicing.
Used to be, most corpses were dressed and laid out at home. The casket would be taken to the church for the funeral, and then to the burial. In the 1930s, funeral homes started to pop up. In the 1950s, they started to hold some funerals in the funeral home, rather than in churches.
Amish burial rituals are considerably different, and jewish burial rituals differ as well.

Depends on where you are from. I am assuming you are in Australia, because you have appeared in 'Australian Questions Only'. In Australia, the Wake is held after the funeral.

Such gathering is called post-funeral gathering (meal), it is a transition from death to life. As such, it is an important elelent in the funeral rites. Funeral meals have always meant to assuage grief and to honor the dead and their beliefs about the hereafter.
