These women do not have the traditional qualities associated with feminine power, so how can they be empowered?
Also, why do hopelessly ugly women still wear make-up? I know some women can make the make-up work wonders, but for some there's no point.

I qualified my question with the word "extremely" because I'm talking about extreme cases here.
It seems to me that feminists focus on empowering women, and telling men to control their lusts to respect women, but what about women who are too ugly to generate lust in a male?

I thought being a woman involved certain characteristics, but never heard you couldn't be a woman if you were ugly. Don't see what looks or lack of them has to do with a social movement or activism either.
Does the same apply to men, if they're *extremely* ugly, are they still considered men? are they allowed to work or leave the house? can they join a social movement? how about church-are they allowed to go there?
This question is so illogical, I couldn't even get offended.

And you wonder why some females have low self esteem. I didn't look at the pic. all i know is you can be the most beautiful person in the world BUT you can be a very ugly person just because you hate someone who looks different then you think is normal. my advice start treating BOTH Male & Females with some respect after all looks fade away in time God Bless

According to their sex they are women! They might not be successful but I like to respect everyone, beautiful or not. It would seem very superficial and unfair otherwise and I would hate my guts for being so silly.
Some ugly women wear make up because they probably see themselves as looking a little bit better, as if they had improved something. And I do not think that make up is used exclusively to attract guys. It is a way to be nice to yourself, a way of taking care of yourself. In fact, I am happily married but still like to wear make up for myself, I am not looking to cheat on anyone, you know. Also, think about it, do ugly men stop shaving their beards? I think they still take care of themselves by shaving, not because they will look hot but because they feel they are doing something good for themselves. Humans reflect the habits picked up in their cultures.

you must be really board to ask a question like this one. do you feel the same about really ugly men? everyone is entitled to their opinion about everything in the world. freedom of speech, etc. my question is why would you ask such a question? it is degrading, offensive, and other words i can't type on this site. my sons would say check yourself before you reck yourself. i wouldn't ask this question in public, or face to face with anyone if i was you. i feel sorry for you, you can't see beauty of some sort in a person that does not fit your image of pretty. how sad. some day you might find beauty isn't just skin deep after all.

The woman is not at all as ugly as you are trying to make her. There are other women in the world whose ugliness surpass hers by far. However, if all you can do in life is try to pass yourself off as a beautiful person by comparison to those of lesser attractiveness then the fact is that you are one of the ugliest people on earth. Get a life.

It's a sad thing that someone put this site together to exploit people who are considered unattractive, and worse that it's done just for the sake of cruel amusement. Is you own human kindness and compassion so superficial that you bestow them only on attractive people? If an unattractive child were born to you, would you love that child less? The woman in the picture obviously has some disorder or medical abnormality in her face (or she's been photoshopped). It's serious, not funny.
They wear make-up to feel good about themselves, just like every other woman.

They should be adopted as ICONS by the movement because they really exhibit the inner beauty of the members.Ugly women need to wear make up more than others as the cosmetic companies have promised them some thing( and taken in by them) which you and I can never believe.'Make up' by it's very name has nothing to do with any truth or reality.
