Voldemort never considered anyone but himself. He never thought of other peoples feelings about, say, being fed to Nagini or being destroyed in the name of his own advancement. When Harry asked him this, I believe he was shocked that someone would suggest something as purile as feeling remorse to him.

Also, Harry was talking to Voldie as if he had already defeated him. I think his confidence and power are what shocked him the most, and possibly made him falter if only for a split second.

Remorse and repentance, forgiveness and redemption are impossible for beings who are truly evil.
True evil knows no remorse, that is why Voldemort was shocked that Harry should even suggest it. Remorse to Voldemort is a sign of weakness, a crack or lessening of power, if you will. Voldemort is shocked that Harry asks for remorse as it is impossible for Voldemort to show such weakness in front of anybody, particularly everybody. Voldemort believed he was and had the ultimate power, remorse was not even a part of his ultimate power. Harry should be bowing down to Voldemort in respect and adoration of Voldemort's power, not defiant against it. That's why Voldemort was so shocked.

I think volemort was freaked out that harry would ask him to do this and so he got a bit shocked, but it could also be that he was unsure wether harry really meant it , or it could be that he was shocked that harry even cared what he felt. I suppose voldemort always thought of love as a weakness, as he said once i think- the more you care, the mor youve got to lose.- and i also think that it might have had something to do with the horcruxes.

I think Voldemort was shocked because he could not believe that Harry on the verge of being killed(at least Voldy thought so), would be thinking for Voldemort.

no longer fairly, i do not comprehend the pairing. i understand "opposites entice" and "there's a skinny line between love and hate" yet Voldemort killed Harry's father and mom. They were arch enemies who were attempting to kill one yet another. Voldemort is over 60 the position Harry is a young person- so what's the charm? ("OMG that no nostril element is in immediately.") although bypass on fanfiction . information superhighway; bypass to Books; locate the Harry Potter area and adjust the characters to Voldemort, Harry. Or use the hunt engine and variety in "Voldemort Harry cut back". believe me, you receives a lot of hits. wish that helped.

maybe because Harry's greatest strength was love and Voldermort considered love as a weakness. Harry was showing Voldermort love by giving him the chance to cure himself. Perhaps he was shocked the Harry would even care.

that is my guess, it has been awhile since I read the book.

i think because voldemort could not experience greater feelings though may have yearned too. maybe even if he was evil it could have been a shocking glimpse of goodness which always sends evil on the run.
