You can but some women are a little too anemic during their period to give blood safety. You should take an iron pill with a glass of orange juice the night before you donate if you're a little to anemic during your period and you should be good to give.

EDIT:
I've had the same problem ever since I quit eating red meat but an iron pill if I'm on my period usually brings my iron up enough to give.

I don't see that it would be a problem and would think that you could give blood or have blood tests done anytime.

If you're unsure about this, I would recommend you check with your doctor or the nurse/person taking the blood tests.

NO! Don't do that! I did that one time and I almost passed out, I got all clammy and white and dizzy and breathy, I was miserable. Seriously, your body will have a reaction when it loses too much blood so quickly.
