What may be the number of foreign tourist visiting India annually in recent years?

If you mean people from Europe I would have thought Goa because of the cheap charters and the search for a warm beach. IF you mean foreigners in general then I would have though Agra and Rajasthan for the history and architecture of the area and of course the Taj Mahal

Top most destination is GOA followed by Himachal Pradesh ( Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie etc).

For number of visitors and associated statistics, please contact Tourism Ministry at Delhi. They collate all such data. Tourism corporation may be helpful. Alternately you can contact state tourism board for state wise stats.

India is a large country. A wise viitor will choose places as per his liking . Some of the theme tour routes are as under.
Historical: delhi-agra-jaipur-udaipur-chittaur-bhopal,etc..
Religious: varanasi, srinathji, omkareshwar, tirupati(hindu); palitana, ranakpur, sumet shikher(jainism) etc..
beach: goa, kovalam,munnar,etc..
moern cities: bombay, kolkata etc..
hill stn: kashmir, darjiling, ooty etc..
regarding statistical data, I am unable to say anything.

anybody visiting india first goes to agra
rajasthan, kerela and goa come next.
people who are spiritual also go to dharmshala,haridwar-rishikesh etc.
