We have three budgies, Susie a powder blue female the oldest... Mean Jo Green a yellow and green female who was terrorizing Susie right after we got them hence Jo's name... And Sammy who we bought as a supposed male and is crazy enough to be a male but the nares say female.

I suspected right away when the sales person proved to me that he didn't know which end was pointed at the ground when it came to judging the age of young budgies. Sammy still had the bars across the top of his(?) head (generally an indication of less than six months) and the store clerk said he was a year old.

No matter we love him/her just the same and have tagged him with the nickname of Dingbat after the famous singing cat of WWII fame.

I adore Birds, we always used to have Budgies or Canaries when I was growing up, my Mam used to sit for hours trying to get them to talk, they never did though, lol, but over the years I have developed a fear of their flapping wings, I don't recall ever having any instances with any to be like this, so sadly I have not had Birds myself since leaving home many Moons ago

Currently I have about a dozen or so doves in an aviary outside and one yellow singer (serinus mozambicus). I lost my other singer a couple of months ago. I have also had canaries, finches and two hand tamed cockatiels. Recently I took care of my dads baby bird while he was on vacation. It was young and had no feathers and had to be hand fed every 3 hours. When they returned home a week later it had feathers and was starting to spread its wings. Quite an experience to see it grow so fast.

We used to have a little blue parakeet named Buddy Bird. He actually learned some words, and would often mutter them to himself. He loved music, also, and would sing and sway back and forth whenever he heard it. We can't think of owning a bird now, we have two house cats who I'm sure would harass it and stress the poor thing out.

i have a cockatiel
i actually got him from someone i met on here (y/a)
she drove 2 1/2 hours to bring him to me even though i offered to meet her halfway. we keep in touch by email and phone
his name is john and since that is also my hubby's name, we now call him johnbird
he is so neat - does tricks and whistles the theme from the andy griffith show, plus a few others. he is so smart, he can open his cage door when he wants out. rather a dangerous thing to do considering i have 8 cats in the house !! oh and don't forget the 4 dogs !!

As a child, my dad had a Panamanian double yellow head named Sophie. She talked all time and sounded human. She hated my mother but loved me. I have had blue and gold Macaw named Sally, who loved me dearly and talked also. She loved me and would get out of her cage and walk all over the house and get in bed with me. She laid eggs frequently. I had a scarlet macaw named Paco, who just screeched loudly. I had a cockatoo and I also had an outside aviary that was 10 feet x 70 feet and I raised exotic finches in it. Gouldians, zebras, canaries, nutmeg finches and a bunch of other exotics. My boys had English budgies, they were much larger than normal parakeets and were quite handsome.

Currently, a Quaker parakeet.

Small bird, big bird personally.

Hardly little buggers, too.

I used to have budgies all my childhood and got some for my kids too.
Unfortunately after my poor son had the constant sniffles for months on end it turned out he was allergic to the little dust mites or whatever they are that live in their feathers.
They were beautiful birds so I gave them to a friend who lived in a caravan park as company for her. But the next time I visited her she told me they had been stolen!!! What a crock.

Not right now, but I used to have two read headed parrots. I called them BERT & ERNIE. We clipped there wings and they used to fly around in the house, but they scared me. And they were always squacking and fighting with one another and pecking at each other, so we ended up giving them away.
