Let's start with the rear end ratio. I know Ford uses the 3.73 ratio and that is what I have in my truck. It means that for every revolution of the rear tires, the drive shaft has to make almost 3 and 3/4 turns. That is your torque multiplication. That ratio is better for acceleration and pulling a load. It doesn't help you that much with the gas mileage, but it is a good ratio for a trade off between acceleration, towing, and mileage.
As for the major air, then you have two choices, either a super charger, or a turbo charger. Both are quite expensive. The other way would be to put a cold air intake on it, and maybe go with a larger throttle body, and add exhaust headers on it.
good luck

force air with a blower or a turbo.
rear end ratios correspond to how many times the whells turn in relation to the driveshaft.IE:your wheels turn one time per 3.73 turns of the shaft. As to whether its good or not depends on the application such as rock crawling or daily driving.
