My Mom started to let me back the car out of the garage for her when I was 13.
But in driver's ed class, the first day that I was to drive I was scared $#!&less. The day before one of the kids hit a parked car. Not to mention that our teacher carried a stick with a nail taped to the end. He would tell you ONCE if you were speeding. The next time your foot got a nice sharp poke.

Yes, I hit a tree while trying to light a cigarette and crushed the right front of my classy 1991 Buick LeSabre. The next day a huge wind storm came and a big branch took out the other fender, I was off the hook!

Yeah, I drove a '66 Impala and was terrified of turning a corner. So, I didn't. I stopped traffic until my Mother got into my seat to drive because I didn't want to hit anyone.
