Volunteered. What you mentioned sounds great though. You can have a section of your resume called "Volunteer Experience" It would look like: Volunteer Experience: Sept 2007-May 2008: Office Secretary at Crappy High School Performed secretarial duties such as managing phone calls, making announcements and photocopying things. Sept 2006-May 2007: Participated in school Pizza Days Responsibilities included delivering pizza and organizing Pizza Sunday events. *You want to include the dates **You want to include a brief detail of what you did It's alright that you didn't join sports teams, that's not a big deal. Perhaps you maintained a strong academic standing. If you've ever baby sat or mowed your neighbor's lawn, include that. Typically your resume should be one page plus a cover letter. However, if you don't have a page of work experience, then don't try to fill up your resume with junk just so it is a full page. If you were involved with boyscouts or air cadets - or some other community group, then this would be another thing you would want to include. If you help out your sibling with her homework, then that would be another thing to include. If your resume is lacking in work experience, make sure that you show your competence in the cover letter. Your cover letter is a paragraph about why you are the right candidate for this job.

Lead, ran, supervised, executed, headed, handled, was in charge of, was chief of, are some of the words that come to mind. There are other similar words too.
However, the proper word to be used would depend on the sentence that you have in mind, so that the correct meaning is conveyed.
EDIT: The first word should be 'led' and not 'lead'.. Sorry for the typographical error.

Good question; however my question is what industry are you referring to? Although synonyms may be; Directed, Lead, Handled, Controlled & many more, your field of work should dictate synonyms employed. Also, quantify ($ u saved co. & such) is extremely desirable on resume.

You may use "handled" or "headed". You might also want to consider using "lead" when you accomplished something monumental while you were managing, like "Lead team to bring in 50% increase in EBIT" or something like that.
