your second grader has to wrote some 7 up sentences? Ya it has been a while hasn't it? haha just playin.

Here's the breakdown:

Starting off, a sentence should have 7 words or up. (more than 7)

Then, move onto a paragraph, which should have 7 sentences or up.

After that, to get difficult, they can write a story with 7 paragraphs and up.

Hope this helps!!

Are you sure he didn't hear the Teacher wrong? My guess is the Teacher said he should 'make up 7 sentences'. (I have young kids too and I know how they can mix up stuff, remember it wrong or write it down incorrectly) I think you should write a note to the Teacher explaining that the Homework was unclear. This way he won't get punished for not doing it.

A 7 up sentence uses 7 words or more. The strategy is used to encourage students to write longer sentences.

A sentence that has at least 7 words which requires you to use adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases.
On, in, and beside are all prepositions. Prepositions can also show location in time. A phrase is a group of words working together that does not have both a subject and a verb. Phrases usually act as a single part of speech. Prepositions can never be alone, so it makes sense to learn about prepositions in their phrases. Any lone preposition is actually an adverb.

you could write about the UN-COLA--I have no idea what a "7 up sentence" is either. Why not ask his teacher or one of his classmates that has the same assignment, or look it up in his textbook.

I haven't heard of this and I'm an English Major.

Are you sure he didn't hear the instructions wrong?

never heard of it... i even tried googleing it and nothing came up. call the teacher or send in a note asking the teacher to explain more since you and your child didnt understand the assignment, the teacher will understand.
