You could argue that it failed because most of the world wanted it to fail. After ww2 communism is a threat to the capitalist system. So the cold war started if the world had left it alone maybe it have faired better. Second you could argue human nature trumped communism people always seem to want more and the people in power tend to get more despite the ideas of equality communism entails. Third it's isolation any country so far in history that has isolated itself or been isolated has suffered quite a bit. Japan tried it for fear of the European powers and it quickly fell behind. Iran has been isolated by most of the world and along with north Korea. It's it easy making it alone.

Communism failed to work because of outside worldly influences. It would work on a very small scale but a country no. The reason it worked for so long is because people are like mushrooms, if kept in the dark and fed **** they will grow. The western world turned on the lights and stopped the **** delivery and thus communism fell. Communism is just idealism in disguise.

Communism was never really attempted in Russia.

The USSR (Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics) tried a heavy-handed version of socialism, forcing by having an authoritarian legal system -- but under socialism, private property ownership is still allowed -- the govt just regulates businesses, and owns means of production.

True communism -- where no private property exists and everything is community owned and shared -- has never been attempted on a large national scale in modern history.

And socialism failed in the USSR because they didn't have the economic infrastructure to support it -- they spent too much on their military, and were not self sufficient in other areas of production.

Also, it failed because the people running the country were greedy -- and greed is a sure way to break any attempt at a balanced economic system.

Because communism is a socialist system, which provides no incentives to people who work hard or take risks.

In addition, socialist systems have no provision (other than force) to create new wealth. It's a redistribution system, and the Soviet system simply ran out of gas.

Mostly because Russia was never really communist. The closest they came was a sort of socialism that was heavily controlled by governmental and political elites.
