That would be a screaming yes, inability to process verbal instructions and questions will cause a drop in overall IQ.

98 is nothing to be ashamed of, it's only marginally below average, and it's clear from your question that you have a decent reasoning capacity that doesn't quite come through in your writing.

If it makes you feel any better, I had an atificially low IQ score too. They only rated me at 125 or so instead of a more correct 150 or 160 because I was not told that the word definitions and general knowledge questions were TIMED, and went for complete and precise definitions with etymology for the one and detailed explanations with examples and historical context for the other. Thus I technically got every single one of those questions wrong.

Having a high IQ ain't all its cracked up to be. IQ is just reasoning capacity, stupid/smart is what you DO with it. And I've done some spectacularly stupid things in my life.

Online IQ tests are worthless. I'll skip the normal ranting and raving since I'm sure someone else has said it by now and jump straight to the details: A scientific test, like an IQ test, has to have two properties: Validity and reliability. Validity means that the test measures what it's supposed to. Reliability means that if the same person takes the same test over again they'll get the same, or nearly the same score. Real IQ tests (the ones administered by licensed psychologists for diagnosis purposes only) exceed in both those areas. Fake IQ tests (such as online IQ tests), as you have found out, leave much to be desired in both areas. They rarely, if ever, return the same result nor do they really even measure anything (except your ability to take that particular online test). Finally, this change can also be expected if you took an IQ test back when you were a child and then took it again as an adult. IQ levels change throughout childhood, in some cases quite dramatically. Once you hit adulthood though the score doesn't change much, if at all (psychologically, adulthood is at about 16 years of age, though if you really want to get technical the brain doesn't fully stop maturing until 25). And of course there's always the possibility of a stroke or other brain damage (though if that was the reason you'd know it). However, because this was an online test you can be rest assured that the first reason I gave is the reason you scored lower.

Now dont quote me im not a doctor, however im 19 and I have had ADD all my life, everyone has it in some form or another they just dont get tested for it. ADD just means you learn differently, and you cant pay attention for long periods at a time. IQ tests are more on the logical side of life, where as life is not like that, I wouldnt worry about your IQ it just means your book smart. I have a low IQ and I can program and C++ they told me it was never gonna be possible that my dreams of being a game designer were just that, dreams. However, they where wrong and I am already at the top of my class. You and I just learn differently, I take meds to help me concentrate, I also did special ed from 4th to 6th grade. So dont worry your smart, you just think creativly like I do. =) Which is good!

IQ tests are nothing more than an assisment of where you are compared to other people your age in your case other 12-13 yr olds. If you do have ADD it will most likely be reflected in your test score. Basicly IQ score doesn't really matter because there will always be someone you are smarter than and someone who is smarter than you.

I'm quite certain your ADD has EVERYTHING to do with your score. Take the test again while on medication for ADD. IQ test were invented BY a certain type of people FOR a certain type of people. They are discriminatory toward pretty much everyone except healthy upper- middle -income white American males whose first language is English.

Yes. If you didnt have ADD your IQ could be way higher. But remember that you actually DO have ADD. Your verbal test though is not affected by the fact that you have ADD.
(Hey, I have ADD too) my iq is 126 (I do feel its low)

I've never taken an actual IQ test.. i took a few on-line and they are jokes.. no way i have an IQ of 50!
ADD does not effect your intelligence.. it just makes it harder for you to focus and what not. you have nothing to worry about.. there are many people dumber than you. (like me)

I.Q. is a measure of reasoning. A lot of is understanding patterns to anticipate a correct action.

ADD has nothing to do with inability to reason, merely to focus.

A score of 100 is normal. So considering you had to deal with inability to focus, you did great!

maybe......they usaully do iq tests to rule out lower intellegence when testing for add...but it is possible if your add is so bad that you couldn't concentrate on the test....IQ test don't really mean anything...i'd just forget about it.
