I got friends in other parts of the world and states that do not observed Daylight Saving Time. I'm tired of figuring out their time when the time changes. How can we petition to rid this system of time changes? Isn't it originally designed to assist the agriculture industries for services?

Nobody in here can get it changed. It sure is hard turning the clock ahead then back 1 hour. Sounds like a real important thing to me.

First off it isnt originally designed for agriculture, if that were the case we would all be Hebrew. DST is a military application designed for tactical purposes in the early years,.Ok I agree with you, it sucks but it is by far the most accurate way to divide a day into the most even increments.......Petitioning ?...who?...the goverment?.......the goverment doesnt have the notion that it has a constituency to deal with much less that it came out of that same constituency..........No, your best bet is to realize that this answer is the closest you'll get to having your idea heard at all,........Now if you're right and I'm wrong, I wanna hear about it cuz you'll be the loudest man on earth. But you're right, the American Notion of Dst is wierd comparitevly. In history we dealt with time in terms of "moon cycles" which are far more accurate in dealing with astronomical event s that we cannot foresee or could not foresee,......such as major new comets that come close to the earth or NEOs near earth Objects, mainly with large masses and can change the orbit of ther earth and moon around the sun........In such a case ( and it has most certainly happened in the past ) a massive obejct has changed the orbit or the earth and or all the planets we know of and therefore time has changed....so you are right but at the same time this is now 2007 and we can see far enough away to tell when an event of a major proportion might occur,.........and yet theres that very narrow possibility that we are too confident in our abilities,....but this is like dividing Pi by 3 when Pi keeps changing size....So, "yes" you have a very valid point.

I wish DST was made permanent the entire year. In my part of the country, winter is bleak enough without it getting dark at 4 pm. Sorry to disagree with you.

It's original purpose was to save energy. By making more of our awake hours daylight, we use less energy for lighting.

I will oppose getting rid of DST. I love it when it's still light out at 8pm.

Just set the clock back at bedtime - I think this weekend and remember it is simplicity personified: Spring forward and Fall back.
