Green Lantern vs Firestorm? Who would win and why?

I'd have to say Green Lantern, because their epic battle would eventually carry them ito outer space, where there would be no matter (solid, liquid, gas) for Firestorm to use his atomic restucturing powers on.

So Firestorm would be at a disadvantage, limited to his energy powers. GL does not have the same limitation, because without matter to convert to energy, Firestorm is limited to converting the matter of his own body to energy; i.e., a finite amount. GL has the energy that is broadcast to his Ring by the Central Power Battery of OA, which contains far more power than Firestorm's body can.

So, unless Firestorm gets in a good first shot and stuns GL, I think GL wins in the long run, by wearing Firestorm out., And GL's ring automatically projects a force field to protect hims from incoming attacks, so the sucker punch wouldn't work, either.
