I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. So far, no one has come up with a way to get computers to think. It's fascinating to hear Marvin Minsky and friends talk about this, as they have done for decades.

Currently, most work in computers involves getting them to do tasks they are good at. Thinking isn't one of them.

Note that the term has also been used to describe inventions like the transistor which have revolutionized technology and society.

If man made machine can become smarter than humans and increase their own intelligence, then they probably can make humans more intelligent.

As long as machines stay tools rather than masters, this shouldn't happen.
