...What would happen if God picked up a big baseball bat and smacked the moon out of the park? Donut Tim is right, it would affect the orbit of the Earth around the Sun. The Earth doesn't quite follow a circular orbit around the Sun, but rather, the Earth and Moon dance around one another while their common center of mass follows a circular path. If the moon suddenly abdicated, the velocity vector of the Earth would not be exactly the same at that moment as the former velocity of that center of mass. The Earth would find itself in a different (possibly somewhat more elliptical) orbit, and even a tiny change in that department would make all of our present concern about global warming seem frivolous by comparison. There might be a prompt effect as well. I think you would feel what mechanical engineers call a "jerk"---a sudden change in acceleration. I'm only guessing here, but I think it might cause the water in the oceans to slosh around a bit. I'm thinking it's like Peter Venkmann said, "It would be bad." Like our word, "Tsunami" would somehow seem inadequate to really describe it.

yes i would, for the simple fact that i came across your question, God probably meant for our paths to cross, whether it be in person or online, everyone has a divine purpose in life.
