That mainly depends on your goals and interests. Both a BA and a BS can lead to very rewarding jobs if you play your cards right. And although a BA will probably allow you more flexibility, a BS is often preferred in research related jobs, although a BA is often accepted as well.

I think that instead of deciding between Arts or Science you should focus more on the details of each degree available in psychology in order to decide which one fits your interests and will help you meet your career goals.

Neither are courses actually, they are degrees. A B.A. degree with a major in Psychology is a broad liberal arts degree that prepares you for a variety of careers. The particular path you take is up to you. Some options require a general liberal arts college degree; others allow more utilization of the specific knowledge gained as a psychology major.

On the other hand, a B.S. in Psychology is designed to provide a knowledge base of current methods, content areas, and theories. So essentially, its more science based.

So it just depends on you and what you're interested in pursuing in the field of psychology that would determine the opportunities you can have. Some areas have a higher demand and need, while others are over populated and jobs are not in high demand. Just do your research and good luck with whatever path you choose.

It really depends on what type of job you want. A BS is more science-based, so that will gear your more towards a clinical degree or help you if you plan on psychiatry (which requires you to go to med school). I have BA and it has more than prepared me for my graduate program in counseling. In this day and age, the world prizes science degrees more than arts degrees, so a BS might give you a small edge as far as job opportunities, but I just got a job in a clinical setting and my BA impressed them just fine--I won the position over people who were older and had more experience than I do, so my degree was not a hinderance at all. So, the question right now is "What sort of program are you looking to go into afterward?" If you plan on grad school (which, if you're going into psych, you should be), look at what that program is looking for a make your decision from there.

Hope this helps,
HG

I like to think of BA in psychology as more "liberal-arts" than BS in psychology, which focuses more in the sciences. That's just my two cents, but really, there is no significant difference between the two. I would take the BS to be on the safe side, and to be better prepared for further education.

If I had to wager a guess, I would say a BS. Simply because the heavier influence in science would probably be beneficial. You might take a look and see what the differences are. I would think it will be very little either way but the Bachelor's of Science sounds more appropriate.

Neither one will give you good job opportunities unless you plan on getting at least a master's degree. As far as which one is better, that depends on what you want to do with it and what college you plan on attending.

BS is better. A BA in anything just shows you were at college to have a good time and were too lazy to take hard courses.

A B.A. in psychology is worthless. The only people I know who have them do other things for a living now, because nobody will hire you with a B.A. Get at LEAST a B.S., if not a M.S., if you expect to work in the field.
