I was chosen to go for it, therefore I have to find some strong aspects to why people should be assisted to comit suicide.

(I.e. medical use, etc.)

I find it hard...

People who want to die are going to find a way -- whether it's legal or not -- and there's no effective way to make suicide illegal (which is why it's not illegal in the US).

However -- by making assisted suicide illegal -- the govt forces people to go to often messy extremes to end their own lives. Because they cannot seek assistance to do it cleanly.

Also -- the prohibition against assisted suicide is based on the assumption (which many consider false) that the govt has more right to force you to go on living than you have in choosing the time of your own death. That's blatant paternalism -- and directly opposed to any concept that people have a right to choose how (and even if) they want to live.

I don't find it a hard to understand at all. If a person is sick and is suffering the life they live is hard and filled with pain then why shouldn't they be given the choice to continue to fight or give up and die. it isn't the governments choice it's the persons choice.

My auntie was sick with cancer 4 years ago. she fought a hard battle she had a long life she was done she couldn't go on anymore. She made the choice and because it was legal in my state she was able to use this option.
My mother her younger sister was told she also had pancreatic cancer in June. Given 6 months at the most. She was told that this form of cancer was one of the most painful to have. She wanted to go the way her sister had but her body was weak she died in just 2 months. For that I am very grateful. My mother lived her final 4 months in my home I saw how strong the hold it took on her. She was in pain unbearable pain. The only thing that truly mattered was what my mother wanted not the government or my own religious beliefs. My auntie had that chance, it should not be taken away. We live in a free country, should we not be allowed that freedom the choice to live our lives as we see fit. even if that means ending it.
Honestly the only reason why people have question or feel it's wrong is due to their own religious beliefs. How is that fair for the ones who do not have such beliefs. Well it isn’t but that is how people are.
If I should get sick as my Auntie and Mother did. I probably wouldn’t choose that path. I couldn’t end my life, I would have the need to fight to the end. But I would like to given the choice for myself.

I asked this question too because i wanted to know what other people though. My though is because of religion they find it imoral to kill people.unless the killed people go figure.if assisted suicide was legal tho i think it should only apply to people thats in pain or that is paralyzed. i dont think you should be able to help kill some one thats crazy because well... there crazy so therefore that would make you an accomplice to there crazyness
