It's here to stay, so get used to it.
There is even a proposal to expand it to year-round.

There are a number of good reasons for daylight saving time (it's saving-singular not savings - plural). The primary purpose is to try and keep the time of sunrise more consistent. The time that people wake up hass less to do with the time of sunrise and more to do with scheduling. However, with a later (by the clock) sunset, there is more "daylight" available. Additionally, it helps to save power. People typically turn off most of the things that use power in a home when they go to bed, and the time they go to bed usually isn't affected by the time of sunset. So, if the sun sets an hour later, they turn their lights on an hour later, but still turn them off at the same time, therefore reducing the amount of time that they are on.
Having it on all year would be counterproductive as that would mean the sun would rise very late in the winter, after 8am in many places in the country. Many people would be waking up during morning twilight and having to turn on lights, and most people are probably not happy waking up when it's dark out if they can avoid it.
The idea of daylight saving time came from an English builder and outdoorsman named William Willett in 1905, when, during a pre-breakfast horseback ride, he was dismayed by how many Londoners slept through the best part of a summer day. He was an avid golfer, and he disliked cutting short his round at dusk. Essentially he noticed how good hours of sunlight were wasted in the morning, and how he longed for more at the end of the day.
DST was extended in the US for a number of reasons. First, the energy savings reason is obvious. Another reason is that by doing this, DST will still be in effect on halloween providing daylight and twilight later for safety of trick or treaters. Another reason is voting. In most cases, DST will now still be effect on election day, and it is believed (and it's probably true) that more people will get out and vote if the sun is up when they return from work.

Please tell me this could nicely be a comedian tale, and you're no longer in all danger that ignorant! daylight hours reductions time is purely a convenience to commerce. it relatively is a length, a counting equipment, no longer having the slightest result on the incredibly international temperature. Oh wait, enable me think of roughly this. perchance it does. As you comprehend, as quickly as the solar is going down, the air and the floor of the floor start to relax off. So whilst the nighttime rush hour happens after sunset, probably it could provide much less greater warmth, because of the fact it relatively is being cooled via the cooler air. perchance if as a substitute of daylight hours reductions time, we had darkness reductions time . . . yet then the morning rush hour is likewise moved forward . . . your question is giving me a headache.

Daylight savings time? Hello! We do daylight savings time in Alaska. Is this ridiculous or what?! Currently, it is October 23rd, 2007. The sun doesn't even shine in Valdez, AK, until 0830am in the morning. The sun has set about 6:15pm. And now, in November I have to move my clock back? How insane is that? By mid-December, we might have 4 hours of daylight. Give me a break!
P.S. Alaska is part of the United States!

I agree. Time is what it is. We shouldn't change it to conform to what we want. I can hardly believe they expanded it this year! They should have done away with it!!
